Theatre is a Living Ecosystem
My directing philosophy is rooted in a simple truth: theatre is an ecosystem: a living, breathing environment shaped by every actor, designer, musician, and audience member who steps into it. Just like any ecosystem, the smallest choices can create the largest impacts. My job as a director is to build the conditions where collaboration, curiosity, and honest storytelling can thrive.
I began my journey in biology, fascinated by the way living systems interact. When I moved into theatre, I carried that mindset with me. I’ve learned that productions flourish the same way ecosystems do: through balance, clear communication, and a space where every artist is empowered to bring their instincts forward.
With over 60 directing production credits in youth, community, and regional theatre, I’ve directed artists of every age and skill level. I value community, celebrate individuality, and meet each cast where they are, building productions that feel both polished and deeply personal.
Directing is not just shaping a show it’s shaping an experience for everyone involved. I’m continually inspired by the artists I work with, and I’m grateful for every cast and creative team that has stepped into the ecosystem with me.
If you’re interested in bringing me onto a project whether educational, regional, or community-based I’d love to connect.
